Measuring What Matters: CPS on Sui

The Sui Foundation introduces Commands Per Second (CPS) as a superior metric to Transactions Per Second (TPS) for evaluating blockchain performance. Sui’s innovative architecture uses Programmable Transaction Blocks (PTBs), allowing up to 1,024 individual operations within a single transaction. This design challenges conventional throughput metrics, as a high TPS figure may actually underrepresent the network's true workload. PTBs not only boost performance but also simplify application logic, reduce latency, lower gas fees, and enhance user experience by consolidating complex workflows into single, atomic transactions.
