Honestly, everybody is talking about this white paper from Satoshi Nakamoto! Everybody please shut up and go and read the paper. I really wonder how many of us have actually read it. I admit I haven’t until recently and it is quite technical. I heard and read about it a lot and we don’t know who the author is — that seems to be the main problem with this paper. Is it an individual or a group of people? Fun fact, you can find the date of birth of Satoshi and his nationality. There are some speculations as to who this person might be in reality. Is it truly important to know who this person is? Edward Snowden once mentioned that Satoshi is a former NSA employee and that blockchain technology as such originates in the NSA. Maybe not for purposes that were introduced to the rest of us — payment system. It’s all speculation and we are just being distracted by it and this is exactly the intention of hiding the identity. The whole creation of Bitcoin is covered in mysticism just like you see in many religions. The creator himself has never been seen and there are no witnesses that spoke to him. It seems like the white paper from Satoshi Nakamoto has joined the list of mystified artifacts. Bitcoin White Paper, welcome to the group of the Holy Grail and Pandora’s Box. There’s one difference, luckily, unlike the two, it’s available for your inspection in many languages online.
It is nothing strange that an author wants to remain anonymous. The bible was written by over 40 authors. Does it matter today? The 10 commandments came from God. Has anybody spoken to God to have him explain some parts that are unclear or debatable in today’s age? Anyway, I would like to see that debate. And that is exactly the point, a piece of work of this magnitude needs no explanation. It is deliberately vague and enigmatic. It’s sort of a gauge. You’ve been given this gauge but it’s purely up to you how you interpret it, giving you the chance to lean towards all kinds of domains. You are free to apply it to your customs, mentality, or cultural needs. If you just take for example Thou shalt not kill. You might wanna ask what exactly is it that I shall not kill. Shall I not kill animals, shall I not kill people, shall I not kill pigs?
And same goes for questions like why are there only 21 million Bitcoins. I guess we’ll never know but it is up to our imagination.
The purpose of Bitcoin based on the white paper is to create a peer-to-peer network for the users to transact securely without having to rely on a trusted 3rd party. And yes that’s all, nothing else. It is also a sort of gauge just like the 10 commandments, apply it wherever you see fit. Blockchain technology is incredibly robust and yet relatively simple. We’ve gone so far with blockchain, from yield aggregators, optimizers and farming, lending, NFTs, smart contracts, proof of stake, etc. It’s almost like trying to fix one of the flaws of the capitalistic system — trust. Even Milton Friedman said that the missing piece in the internet era is a reliable form of e-cash. So here it is! Let’s embrace it and focus on what’s important — removing 3rd parties from equations. To put this simply, cut brokers and consequently their commissions out. No more outrageous fees to the real estate agents, banks, stockbrokers, commodity brokers, and so on. The closer you are to the money supply the higher potential of making larger sums of money. And this is what blockchain as such will change. So if we go purely by the logic of the purpose as formulated by Satoshi, central banks and commercial banks will be cut out among the first ones. This is the purpose that Satoshi stated, however, we humans have a mind and creativity of our own. My question is; are we religionizing blockchain or is it the religion of the 21st century? Is the only moral of the blockchain religion equality? And is equality put above all 10 old morals that are found in Bible?
